This painting is a return — not to the beginning of the story, but to its next chapter. Goldilocks is no longer a curious child trespassing through someone else’s world. She is grown, seated back to back with one of the bears, reading aloud and laughing. The bear listens with a soft, sidelong gaze — not wary, but tender. Between them, there is no fear, no fable, only friendship.

I painted this to explore what happens after the tale ends. What if forgiveness bloomed? What if curiosity became companionship? The scene is playful, yes — but also reverent. A reminder that stories can grow up with us, and that sometimes the ones we once misunderstood become the ones we sit beside.
